The Need for the University of Conservatives (UofCSV):

The University of Conservatives is a much needed web-based school of conservative studies that utilizes the latest web applications to teach.

The objective is to create an ever expanding group of individuals who are fluent in conservative principles.

Far too often, people get side tracked by focusing on current policy issues and public personalities. The principles of living a successful life are found “up stream” in our conservative culture, above the day-to-day politics.

Our conservative principles have not been well-articulated by any president since Ronald Reagan. Conservative principles have been constantly attacked by the mainstream media, academia and politicians, which includes a lot of Republicans.

Many individuals, especially younger adults who attended public schools, have fewer points-of-reference to distill these timeless principles into their lives.

Talk radio has carried the torch of liberty to the mass audience since Reagan. Virtually every government institution has been engaged in extinguishing the liberty torch with power and control as the main goal, i.e., statism.

This is corrosive to our culture and society.

It is argued that we are at a “tipping point” in that an equal amount of people are financially beholden to government as to those who fund government. We may be reaching, or have reached the place where many are “voting themselves the largess of the public treasury.”

This is not good news, especially for our children; hence, the creation of the University of Conservatives .

Teaching: Tradition and Technology:

On-line schools are widely utilized today in traditional education and business settings.

UofCSV uses modern technology and traditional testing.

Example: After a short introduction to the course, the student clicks an audio/visual link and watches Ronald Reagan’s historic 1964 endorsement speech of Barry Goldwater. The student absorbs the information and takes a quick practice test, then moves on to the next course.

Upon completion of the courses within the category, which can be described as “micro-lessons,” a final exam is offered.

Results are recorded in student’s account towards certification.

Again, the prime objective is to introduce or re-establish contact and understanding with conservative principles, and with the individuals who championed the cause. In many cases, the courses are taught by the giants of conservativism. Some are Nobel Laureates.

UofCSV has, and is, assembling the best professors of liberty that history offers.

Another objective is to populate UofCSV with hundreds of courses organized into logical categories allowing students to choose their own study path, or select a structured route towards certification.

As we start the UofCSV’s first credentialed path is designed to teach the basic understandings of conservative principles. The inaugural category is: “Become a Card Carrying Conservative.” The courses are free but the final exam -- to be awarded a “Card Carrying Conservative Certification” -- costs $27.00.

Completing the courses in this category takes approximately 10 hours. But don’t be mistaken, UofCSV is not a diploma mill. One will have to have a working understanding of conservative principles before any certification is awarded.

Plus, one gets a nice wallet-sized certificate with your picture on it which can be revealed when discussing the issues of the day to demonstrate that you might just know what you are talking about. A certificate from the University of Conservatives can be added to a resume to show you have completed important tasks.

Or, you can register as a student at no charge to get updates, announcements and take practice quizzes. However, if you desire certification the final exams must be purchased.

In a nutshell, all the courses are free, but one must register as a student to take practice quizzes.  And, it costs to take Final Exams to earn certifications.

As we were building the UofCSV, our personal conservative friends poked around the web site. They were surprised to discover numerous nuggets of information that they had no idea existed. Often they would email their people links to a particular UofCSV course thus adding information to a discussion they were having.

Even before the formal launch of UofCSV, we already had people enrolled as students waiting to hone their knowledge of conservative studies and earn a “Card Carrying Conservative Certificate.”

UofCSV is ideal for homeschoolers and inexpensive, too.

Private schools can incorporate UofCSV courses into their curriculum or as homework assignments.

Think tanks, lobbying groups, PAC’s and politicians have requested that their interns take some courses so they understand the principles of the conservative movement.

Staff members of the groups mentioned above frequently attend conferences and seminars to continue their education. UofCSV is yet another such seminar. (Without the swimming pool)

Parents of public school students can use UofCSV courses to augment and challenge their kids. Plus, the course information can be used as an excellent supply for term papers and other assignments.

Some individuals seek to deepen their understanding of conservative principles. Others are simply looking to have a bit of inexpensive/free entertainment while learning more about conservativism in the meantime.

Finally, as we further construct this online university, we plan to offer higher certification levels. This means that you can earn some impressive initials to proudly place in back of your name. Such as:
